The Employment Guide® Announces
the Redesign of
EmploymentGuide.com
Norfolk, VA,
May 15, 2007 - The Employment Guide®
(www.EmploymentGuide.com), a division
of Dominion Enterprises, today announced the redesign of its online job board,
EmploymentGuide.com (www.EmploymentGuide.com).
By surveying job seekers, clients and internal staff, the site pinpointed what
its users wanted most.
"The truly exciting part of
EmploymentGuide.com's new look is where the creative direction came from," said
Jack Webber, regional manager of The Employment Guide. "This redesign
intends to improve the overall usability of our job board. We solicited input
from our user base, clients, industry experts and our employees to assist us in
developing a more efficient site. This combination of viewpoints ensured that
all users of our site were represented, and the result is a simple-to-use site
that delivers job seekers and employers information in a variety of ways."
The homepage was redesigned using four
centralized buttons to link visitors directly to the areas of the site visited
most often: the application process, nationwide job fair listings, work at home
opportunities and the education center. New keyword search functionality,
powered by the Google Search Appliance, allows job seekers to search for
available positions by specific location or job title and it displays the results faster and
more accurately.
EmploymentGuide.com also features social media
components including The Spot-a job blog featuring informative articles by The
Employment Guide staff and other industry professionals-and a video center
that features more than 60 industry videos outlining basic job requirements for
positions in those industries. This will be expanded over the course of the
year to each of EmploymentGuide.com's featured city's pages.
"We have incorporated the major
functionalities of Web 2.0, and plan to continue development of our site in
order to meet the needs of our job seekers and clients," said Jeff Littlejohn,
Vice President/General Manager of The Employment Guide.
For the last three years, EmploymentGuide.com has won the
coveted WEDDLE's User Choice Award (http://www.weddles.com/awards/). Selected
by job seekers, recruiters, and industry leaders alike, award recipients are
Web sites that provide the best level of service and value to their visitors
and help others make the best use of employment resources online. Peter Weddle,
CEO & publisher of WEDDLE's LLC, said of the site, "The new
EmploymentGuide.com is sleek, intuitive and helpful-the kind of site that works
for you, whether you're a job seeker, an employer or a recruiter."
In conjunction with its nationwide print
publications, EmploymentGuide.com is a competitive job board for hourly and
skilled job seekers and a recruitment solution for employers. For more information on The
